Picture of Baby DuckThis photo of a baby ducky was taken at a local lake in Texas. Notice that the water is behind the duck. This is the result of the baby duck climbing up a very steep concrete incline, racing towards me as it was curious. Its mama and brothers and sisters joined him shortly in a group investigation of the photographer with a camera. This photo was taken with the Canon SX30IS at F5.0, 1/400th of a second and ISO 100. The duck was about 10 feet from the camera. Because he was moving quickly, I had to work fast to compose and take the shot. Notice that by using the Rule of Thirds in keeping the subject to one side rather than centered in the frame, interest is added to the photo. The photo was taken without the use of a tripod; because the subject was constantly moving a fast shutter speed was required. The fast shutter speed assisted in obtaining a sharp shot - telling Mr. Blur to take a hike! The sky was a murky color the day of this shot. Keep in mind that the color of the sky determines the color of water. The color can be changed amid the post processing phase but I decided to keep post processing minimal.
